The MS-1 is an analog distortion pedal built for metal and high-gain playing, delivering a thick, powerful, and clear heavy tone.
Core Features
The sound core of the Metal Shredder MS-1 comes from a high-gain analog amplification circuit shaped around a tube-like CMOS architecture. It is not simply designed to create “more distortion”; it is designed to preserve clarity, dynamic response, and playing feel under high-gain conditions. For modern metal, hard rock, heavy riffs, fast solos, and high-energy rhythm playing, the MS-1 provides a thick and tight distortion foundation that keeps every pick attack powerful and articulate.
Compared with ordinary distortion tones, the Metal Shredder MS-1 focuses more on control under high gain. Its tone stays full and smooth while avoiding an overly loose or muddy response. For heavy rhythm playing, the low end can remain tight and powerful; for lead playing, the upper-mid and high-frequency character helps deliver stronger presence and sustain. Whether you are playing palm-muted riffs, fast down-picking, repeated patterns, or high-speed shred leads, the MS-1 helps keep the distortion focused, aggressive, and clearly defined in both mix and stage environments.
The MS-1 also uses carefully selected components and iStingor’s analog circuit design experience to reduce common noise issues often associated with high-gain pedals. It does not claim to be completely noise-free; instead, it is designed to deliver a cleaner, stronger, and more stable high-gain sound, allowing players to achieve a more controlled metal distortion experience without relying on a noise gate.
The Metal Shredder MS-1 features TREBLE, MIDDLE, and BASS controls, along with a RANGE parametric mid control, allowing high-gain distortion to be shaped with precision instead of simply increasing gain. TREBLE adjusts brightness, edge, and presence; BASS shapes low-end thickness and tightness; MIDDLE defines the body, presence, and projection of the distortion tone. For metal distortion, midrange control is especially important because it directly affects riff clarity, lead presence, and how the guitar sits in a mix.
The RANGE control works together with MIDDLE to shift the center area of the midrange adjustment. You can use it to emphasize a key midrange band so lead tones cut through more easily, or reduce crowded frequency areas to make rhythm playing clearer and tighter. When using different pickups, amplifiers, or signal-chain setups, RANGE helps you find the right midrange focus more quickly. When MIDDLE is set to the 12 o’clock flat position, RANGE is inactive; once MIDDLE is boosted or cut, the effect of RANGE becomes more noticeable.
GAIN and LEVEL control the overall distortion intensity and output volume. Turning GAIN clockwise increases the distortion, covering everything from tighter hard rock drive to more saturated metal high-gain tones. LEVEL adjusts the output volume so the pedal can be balanced properly when switched on or off. Combined with the quick-swap battery system, standard 9V DC power support, and input-jack power switching, the MS-1 is practical for pedalboard use, rehearsal, recording, and live performance.
